VA expantion too fast?

If you have been to the Jerry L Pettis VA Hospital in Lomalinda lately, you will have noticed alot of construction. They just finished construction on the new "Valor" building for Behavioral health. That building officialy opened in December. Other projects include a staff elevater for patiant gurneys. Also a new outpatiant pharmacy is also in the works. Meanwhile, more and more parking spaces are being taken away from an already tapped out parking lot. One of the biggest complaints patiants have is parking or the lack there of. It currently takes patiants approximently 30 to 45 minates to find a place to park on site. The VA does offer parking lot shuttle service. So far the VA is expanding buildings but not parking spaces to accomodate the extra buildings. Another complaint heard by the vets is the lack of wheelchairs when needed. Often times all the wheelchairs are being used by 10am. There are good side to expanding. The VA is attempting to accomadate the growing number of veterans ageing from vietnam, and those comeing back from Iraq and Afganastan. This week the Veterans Administration chief is in town to inspect the hospital as well as take veterans suggestions in a town hall meeting.

Vote box

Recently 11/4/2014 we had a major election in the US. You couldn't tell from low voter turnout. But, that didn't stop every canidate from bombarding us with political ad's and mail. Even email wasn't safe from political mailing. Dispite the low turn out, people seem to want change. One way to do that when your not happy about what goes on in washington, is to vote. Make your voice heard by voting. I think part of the problem with low voting turn out, is the difficulty in doing so. For instance, I had to vote provitional ballet due to the fact that normaly I do mail in. I didn't recieve my mail in ballet so had to go into a precinct to do it. Something that took me half an hour to do sould have only taken 10 minates. All said and done though, hopefully there will be change in Washington DC comeing soon.

The Crossdressers holliday

Ahhhh as halloween aproaches, I think back to when I was a crossdresser. I have sense moved beyond just dressing in female cloths. However, When I think halloween, I don't think vampires and ghosts. Instead, I think of how many crossdressers, closeted or not, take that opertunity to dress as femme as they can. Some dress sexy and thers dress alot more fantasy. There are many events for the transgendered community on October 31st. It is the one day out of the year that CD's can come out of their shell without fear. It is because of that that Halloween IS the crossdressers holliday.

Shake up or shake out

There was an earthquake at 1016am on 10/16/2014. But, fortunantly it was just a drill. The great American shakeout drill where agencies from all over California and the the US. I happen to have been a part of my local VA hospital's drill. The point of the drill at least for the hospital was to simulate what would happen operational wise if there was a large earthquake. They had a triage area set up infront of the emergency room entrance. They also had various other departments within the hospital itself involved. All of which was being coordinated and communicated through the local VA HAM radio club. The drill lasted two hours and appeard to go off without a hitch. Are you prepared? Everyone sould have a plan in the event of an emergency/disaster. More on disaster preparedness in another post.

The STATE of California's state workers

California is one of the greatest states to live in as far as I am concerned. HOWEVER, the people who work for the state (perticurly the Franchise Tax Board), are idiots who have no clue what they are doing. For the fourth year in a row, I have recieved shall we say intemidating letters from them demanding I pay outragious amount of money. This time they are trying to get $1,700.00 from me. Thats $1700.00 that I do not have. If they would just bother to look at Social Security records they would see just how much I have or havn't made. The latest letter is threatning a lean and garnishment of wages. Well lets see 25% of nothing is well NOTHING. It's like takeing water from a dry well. IT DON'T WORK! Either the system is screwed up or the people working for the system is screwed up. With people running our state government like this no wonder the state of California is broke.

Shutdown showdown

Well it looks like politics once again is getting in the way of common sense. If the House and senant doesn't vote on extending government funds, the US Federal government will stop doing business till a budget is reached. Why are they stalling? What possibly could be causing them NOT to act and to let our government shut down? It is all over health care law that THEY voted in and that the supreme court even ruled legal and binding. The Afordable Care Act is a law that will regulate the health insurance industry. It has NOTHING to do with federal budgets and funding. Hmmm wonder what would happen if we were to take away our polititians paycheck away from them. I bet they would get alot more done to prevent the government from shutting down.

Driving me nuts

Now that I got your attenttion, so will a speeding cop. One thing I notice about police officers, no matter what department they belong to, is the lack of following traffic laws. Even when not rolling on a hot call, I see cops doing things like speeding without lights or siren. Today I even noticed a cop parked on the oposit side of the street with his car facing oncomeing traffic. Now you can't tell me that he couldn't park on the correct side of the street and walked across, or flip a U Turn and park right on the side in witch the call was on. I have been on ridealongs where cops fly down a street doing 40 miles an hour over the speed limit without lights or siren's. Also, It's not just on duty they drive this way. It's off duty as well. Makes you wonder what they are thinking. I know they are far better trained behind the wheel then the average citizen, BUT, people see them do things like mentioned above and it doesn't look good on their department. Not to mention puts lives in danger. Lives in witch they are swarn to protect and serve.
